lobey idle
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:23:12 PM »
Is this idle from needing to sync the carbs with a gauge or is it possible from performance cam/engine mod ?

cb750 cafe

Fastest CB750 I have ever road .I have reason to believe engine mods but runs to good to justify pulling engine just to confirm. Very lobey idle , nice and steady though revs great, no hanging idle .... Straight open pipes jetted a tad rich- running stock airbox.

If I had it I would pull the carbs & clean all the jets & check floats & float levels, etc. & check whats coming through the tank into the carbs, do a good ignition timing, valve adj., carb. synch.....you know, a Full tune up just to get her running sweet.
Did you just buy it ?

have had it for 2-3 monthes or so , I traded for an rd200 a while back and it's been an ongoing project.  everything has been tuned minus the gauge sync of the carbs-

remember to have the bike at normal operating temp if and when you do sync the carbs.

Do you like the carb jetting that you have presently in the carbs ? I would pull the plugs and just post a good clear picture of the electrodes;see what color they look like...light tan is good.

well, I am happy with the performance, a little rich is better than a little lean. Fouled plugs are easily cured in the ultra sonic.but eventually I'll rejet.   I just thought the idle was sounding like a four barrel carb-ish like  on a chevy or something .  Wondering if it was just the balance being off or something else. In my experience Hondas were always very even sounding and smoothly balanced idling bikes (the  inline fours) then this bike which idles and revs perfect but sounds so different-

saw a vid on youtube of this guy talking about the sound of a race cam and my imagination may have began to run away with itself, I dunno  ;D

here was the vid though - dig the dew rag n chopper shwag installed .

what a cb750 sounds like with a big bore kit!
