Talking about carbs, I installed bigger pilot jets and smaller main jets today. No time to go to the dyno before next race but I intend to run a 9.5... period.

GPz won't be finished in time for Sam to ride it but the project continues.
Here's a before pic of the "new" undamaged engine cases.

I started the Harley today, it had been sitting in the shop for a year... gonna change the oil tomorrow, check a few things and then we are good to go. I noticed the throttle body flap thingies (I'm sure there's a real name for them, but I'm a carb-guy  ;D ) don't open completely at WOT so I'll make some adjustments tomorrow. Could be worth one or two horsepower  ::)

Waking up the old thread, it's been a while since I worked on this project but it is still going on and perhaps Sam will still ride it some day ;)
Need a thicker base gasket and the engine is good to go.

I am watching this build on the GPz. I am currently building an '83 GPz 750. Initially it was supposed to be for the VRRA but the class that it would be allowed in will make me look like a joke. Theres some serious muscle in that category. I may have to convert it back to a street bike and think about another race bike. something smaller perhaps. I wish I could find good info on the GPz. I need some advice on building a stout street motor. Cant wait to see this one finished.

Being a Finn I'm not familiar with the VRRA rules, anywhere I can find them to go and see what you mean?

 Yup - http://www.vrra.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/VRRA-Rules-April-2012.pdf -

The 83 gpz 750 would have to be in the F1 class of Period 4 Superbikes. Bikes allowed up to 1989. Some cases newer if the model unchanged. The Gpz will be greatly under powered and under suspended. have a look through the rule book if you like. Its long but I read it like its my bible.

Thanks, sounds like the classic road racing rules are very different compared to Europe. I'll have a look.

Thanks, it should sound healthy with all the time and effort put into it  ;)
The paint on the cylinder head smokes when it gets hot for the first time.

Next thing to solve is the rear brake and lining up the chain. My brother is highly motivated all of a sudden for some strange reason so I think the bike will be ready in a month or so.

Nothing going on with the bike... again.  ;D
