Hey guys,I was wondering if a older model seat will fit without any modification.I really like the look of the early models. Thanks

most of the seats are very specific.  the older flat seats belong on the 550s with the smaller tank (pop-top gas tank).  those seats will not fit correctly on the 78.  trust me, i've tried about 3 types of seats.  there are also different flat ones.  stick with the same yr.  not sure about crossing over to other models (ie. 450s or 750s).

I don't think they will match up at the tank. Tanks are completely different. Longer for 77-78

not the same frame and the newer models have a more pronounced hump over the rear fender
