Does this set work?

http://www.allballsracing.com/25-1362.html

The All Balls site is almost contradictory - a 1978 K1-K5?! :

"Application   Wheel Bearing - Seal Kit - Rear Honda CB650 79-82, CB750 C 80-82, CB750A 76-78, CB750K 750 Four 79-82, CB750K1-K5 750 Four 69-78, CB750L 79, CB750SC 82-83"

A CB750K8 doesn't really exist.  In 1976 they stopped using the K(number) designations and went to a model year designation.  I'm guessing you have a 1978 CB750K, in which case the All Balls kit should work.

You could also get the bearings from Honda, they still sell them.  The part numbers you need are:

96140-63040-10    BEARING (6304U)    $12.89 (2 needed, for the hub)
96140-63050-10    BEARING (6305U)    $14.27 (1 needed, for the sprocket carrier)

These are Motogrid's prices.  Your local dealer will probably be a little higher.

The numbers in parentheses are the bearing type, in this case 6304 and 6305.  The U means they are unsealed.  If you do a Google Shopping search for bearings add -2RS to the end of the number for sealed versions (6304-2RS).  You should be able to find some quality bearings for not too much money.  I used Nachi brand from www.VXB.com in my 550.  If you have a bearing supply place close to you they should be able to help out, too.

You may want to get a new oil seal for the sprocket carrier, too:

90753-283-000    OIL SEAL (34X55X9)    $9.42

Of course, the All Balls kit already has that.

Good Luck,

Thanks johnrdupree :) That's the kind of full & detailed answer I was looking for.

The All Balls site is similarly vague regarding the head bearings but I went ahead and installed those without issue.

I thought the OEM bearings were frowned up as they are not double sealed hence my All Balls pursuit...

And yes, the bike in question is a 1978 750K.

Also any local industrial bearing supplier would have them as well.  That's where I got the bearnings for my rear wheel.  They were considerably cheaper then everywhere I checked, a lot of our local stores get their bearing supply from the dealer anyway.  I saved cause I cut out the middle man.

We all call them K8s. There is some controversy over if there was a K0 since the Japanese do not use  0 since it means no progress. Some would call a 78 a K7.  Call it a K8 all you like.

I bought front and rear all balls bearing kits from Z1 within the last 3 months for my '78 750K (notice how I avoided the K8   ;)).  All Balls part numbers 25-1307 (front two) and 25-1362  (rear 3).  Packages include the bearings and all the seals.   I confirmed via email with Z1 that these were the correct sets before I bought them.

When they arrive, put them in the freezer until you are ready to install.

The only reason I brought that up is it makes searching fiches and online vendors more difficult.  I'm not trying to change change anyone's nomenclature, just trying to make it easier for folks to find what they're after. :)
