Hello from Detroit
« on: November 30, 2011, 06:44:29 PM »
Hi all, my name is Luke, I'm 17 8). I just bought my second bike a 74 CB550, my first is a 82 Yamaha Virago 750.  I am mechanically inclined and always have to have some kind of project going.  I bought this bike for $150 at a garage sale, 2000 miles on the motor, new tires, the owner said It was not firing on two cylinders and thought it was a carb issue.  So anyways I hauled it home and I found that a wire going to a coil was unplugged, I plugged it in and that got it firing on all 4 in less than 10 min for free..   I am planning on making this into a budget cafe racer so I will probably have a few questions.  I think this will be my last project before I head off to collage so I hope it will be a good one.  I can get some pics up this weekend of this new project.

Welcome to the forum Luke!  Con graduations on the good find.  At $150 sounds like you got yourself a great deal.  Be sure to post some pics when you get a chance.  Can't wait to see how it turns out.
