Anyone apply the Dondirtbiker Vintage Honda Paints kit?
« on: December 01, 2011, 04:10:58 AM »
If so ...I have a question that I can't seem to get an answer for.

It says in the instructions that you do not need to apply the primer to plastic parts.

Does this apply to plastic parts that were previously painted?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have used Don's kit on many Honda CT70's. Great kit and it applies just as promised. Everything is included in the kit too, right down to the strainers and gun cleaner.  ;)
As for the plastic parts. No primer is needed, scuff it up with a 3M pad, clean it, and spray it thats it.

Thanks for that.

I will also be painting some of the frankenstuff side covers that are unprimed and not exactly plastic I think. Primer need on those?

Thanks
Steve

I primed my Franken covers. I used a high build primer and sanded out some small imperfections from the mold.

Yes, paint and decals with the Candy Gold.  I liked the kit, I did screw up early on with applying the Candy coat (three part system) too heavily and I had clouds of darker Candy.  I ordered a replacement kit for just the paint and managed to not screw up the second time.  I was $80 poorer, but overall very satisfied with the results.  Expect to wait for your order, Don does not get in a hurry.  :-)
