750 A airbox boots...NEW!!!
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:21:13 PM »
I ordered a full set of 4 1976 750A airbox boots from a guy ( dealership) that says they are as supple and soft as new...and he has 2 more sets.  If they turn out to be what they are claimed to be, would anyone want the other 2 sets?? They may even fit on a few other CB models???

So - these are the boots from the carbs to the airbox?

Mine are still soft/supple.  The head to carb insulators are hard as a rock though . . . .

Had the day off so I took the airbox apart and cleaned it and added the new boots.  So soft and pliable that they almost installed themselves.  Spot on perfect fit.  Now heres the kicker..60.00 for ALL FOUR shipped.  There are 2 sets still available at dealerships in the US.  One set is at Triangle Cycles in Virginia....434-799-8000.  The other set is at King Cycles in New York.....718-773-2279.  Honda part number is...17253-393-300

The airbox boots, as you've found, are not as "unobtanium" as the engine to carb isolators are.  Since the airbox boots don't see the heat of the isolators, they usually are in much better shape, and don't need replacing near as often, if ever.

According to the dealership, the box to carb boots ARE a discontinued item...but there were these 3 sets in the US.  My boots were probably the original ones and brick hard.

I didn't say that the boots are available from Honda.

I tried to communicate that the need to replace the airbox boots isn't as great as the insulators.

Used (and usable) airbox boots are realitively easy to find.  But used (and usable) insulators - not so easy.

As a result, the demand/need for airbox boots is not as great.

Still a good find - for anybody that needs new/replacement boots.
