exhaust collar woes
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:46:41 AM »
i'm trying to put a rc engineering exhaust on my 76 750k. the headers are set up to use split collars, which i have, but they are about 1 15/32 inside diameter, and the outside diameter of the headers is more like 1 17/32. anybody else run into this by any chance? these collars came off a 77 hondamatic.
also have a junk set of headers with k type ends but would like to avoid cutting and welding.

some muffler shops may be able to make them.
Can also be machined, then split... too bad you are not near me..

maybe the mac people have them - other thought was to grind down the inside of the stock collars. this would leave larger gap at the splits though. i wonder about doing that anyway and adding a washer to bridge the gaps. probably there are shims out there that would work as washers.
