The next project....
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:23:45 pm »
So, I knee deep in my Cb450 build.  However, my once beautiful '72 Cb500 was involved in a fire at the shop it had been languishing in for the last 7, yes 7, years waiting for a new wiring harness.  In fairness, I told the shop owner to take his time, so bad on me.

Fortunately, the bike never actually caught on fire, but the smoke and fire retardant did it in.

Only you guys and gals on here can really appreciate that I will not junk this bike.  I brought her home to the shop with a lot of laughter from my buddies.

Stay tuned!....

Oh, and I apologize for not updating this very soon...

Pics speak louder...

RR,

He did.  But the insurance company was fighting me hard over the value.  All the bike needed was a new wiring harness, but they estimated the repair in $1,200 range.  We settled at $1,000 at the end of the day.

I never should have let the bike sit there for so long, but at the time I had no idea what I was doing when it came to repairing these things.  Stupid... and wasteful.  However, I have been handed a lemon of a situation, so you kno wwhat I am goin gto make?  LEMONADE!!!!

I have com eup with a name for the project....  Kemuri (Japanese for Smoke).  I wanted to call it the Phoenix, but out of respect to Master Spikeybike, there can be only one!

Think Stealth...

Based on your description "project procrastination" sounds about right.  :)
So when people ask for updates you can take a couple of years and nobody will mind.  :) :) :)

I've been keeping up with your 450 project and can hardly wait to see what will happen to the 500.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

Take your time, dagersh.  You will bring her back to her former glory.  These 500's are fabulous bike and well worth the effort.
