Hello from Central Illinois
« on: December 04, 2011, 12:21:22 PM »
Hello. My name is Terry and I am a new member. I live in East Peoria Illinois and my bike is '76 CB750 K.  I have already found valuable information and examples here and really appreciate the experience of the group.

My last bike was a Honda 550 Four, 15 years ago. I got rid of it after my son was born and the wife did'nt want to ride. What a very long time to go without a bike!

I bought a basket case from a friend in May. The bike had been his regular ride for years until he got a chance to get a springer softail Harley. The bike sat stripped down in the back of his garage for 12 years untouched.

This is a super low budget project so far. I got the bike home for $500 bucks. He was even nice enough to take a few payments!

Almost everything I needed was in the tub of parts fortunately and reassembly was fairly straightforward. Only a few changes were made to take it from a chopper-ish look to a sort of cafe. Got rid of the tall bars, groovy seat and rear fender.

I was able to make a new low profile seat and tail, added bullet turn/tail/stop lights and an axle mounted plate bracket with LED strip light . I etched and sealed the tank, filled the dents and dings, primed the tank and sides and started riding it for about $800!.

I am so glad I got this bike! What a blast. As the riding season is over I am looking at major changes to this bike and I look forward to finding the answers I need here.

Thanks,
Terry

Good work, "T"-man!
I once worked there, in Pekin, during the early 1970s when the CB750 was brand new. It was for Brown's Sports Center, which was the Honda shop in Peoria-Pekin in those days.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.
