Getting Lathed
« on: December 04, 2011, 08:18:22 PM »
Fun stuff here- Musical chairs with Lathes.

One old oil field production lathe that showed up wasn't what was needed. Inaccurate and worn out, would be great for punching holes in big blocks of metal quickly, made very well, deco, pre-ergonomic but nonetheless streamlined, three phase and finally time to roll it out and store it outdoors and pull in something we can use.

Got some cool rollers to put under it. Pried it up, pushed it out. Sometimes one leg is high and the rollers  take off by themselves.  Watch your toes, the old thing weighs 3,000Lbs.  Newer one is smaller, more accurate and can plug in without running a half mile of 220.

Not sure what the little one is.

Amazing fact:  It takes about 15 years to fill up a 40x60 with bikes and stuff.

Here we go again. Anyone want to buy this before we move it again? Got some better roller skates for it this time.

Gonna be a lot easier if you tell us where it is ..

It's about 25 miles south of the I 35 and I 40 crossroads. Middle of Oklahoma.

This one was a production turret lathe, never really what we needed, so it was always just in storage and never hooked up. Replacement that  works for our applications, a morei sakei.
