How to Bypass Neutral Safety Switch?
« on: November 29, 2011, 08:23:39 AM »
I was wondering if there was a way to "bypass" the neutral safety switch on a 76 CB550. I say "bypass" because I am not actually bypassing it. The original owner had swapped out the bars and controls on the bike, so now there are no electronic controls (elec. ignition, kill switch, horn, turn signals, headlights).

I don't mind not having any of those functions right now (even though I would like to have them back eventually), but I would like to be able to start the bike in gear... It sucks stalling out and having to find neutral and kick start the thing...

Just connect the two wires inside headlight bucket.
You may need to make a short jumper lead if you intend to 'restore' at a later date

I think its a green/red trace and black?
Take a look at wiring diagram, clutch switch is marked, so colours will be shown
