Engine correct for frame?
« on: December 05, 2011, 10:26:16 PM »
I've been searching and reading and generally soaking up as much info as possible around here. I came across this page(http://www.hondachopper.com/engine/engine_timeline/timeline.html ) that indicated that my motor was a 76 f model. My frame is a K4. My numbers are CB7502351812 for the frame and CB750E-2535139 for the engine. So do I really have a supersport motor in my K frame?

Looks like a 76F motor.  Think of it as an upgrade. ;)

I think someone upgraded there bike with your (K) motor. Then stuck in one of those (F...) motors and sold it before it lost a valve ;D ;D ;D JK

It's the other way Bollingball. The 76 F engine is basically the same but a much better performing engine than the 74 K.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

My brother bought a wrecked 75F for the engine and dropped it into a 74K. He still moans about deciding to sell it.

I don't particularly mind the motor and frame not matching. Are there any differences I need to know about?

There are some internal differences and also the head that would come into play if you were rebuilding it but for basic maintenance it should not matter.

Ken, I see you have a K8.  Honda used the 75/6 F engine in the 77/8 K bikes.  Lucky for you.  ;) ;D
