cb650 camshaft question
« on: December 07, 2011, 11:09:04 AM »
Hi all,

I am planning on doing the proven '650 cam in a 550 head' mod in the coming weeks but I am slightly confused about which models will fit. Please bear in mind I'm from the UK so their may be discrepancies in models and years.

As I understand it, the SOHC cb650 was produced in the US until '82 but continued until '84 in the UK and Europe. Am I therefore right in assuming I can use the camshaft from any SOHC cb650?

Models produced after this where DOHC with seperate inlet and exhaust cams. I'm assuming these cannot be used for obvious reasons.

Finally does anyone have a correct cam they are looking to part with or know where I might find one, ebay (even US ebay) is looking a little thin on the ground.

Thanks!

Ebay - keep searching.  Also post in the parts wanted section on this site.

If you find on in europe beware of the german cams.   They are a lower profile.
considered a "50" hp cam.  Was a result of the german laws.
