Carb sync "vacuum adapter" thing
« on: December 10, 2011, 02:13:16 PM »
As I am reading the service manual. it says to instal the vacuum adapter on number 2 carb.  Am I to assume this is simply a Tee with another piece of tubing for the guages installed in place of the line for the selinoid?  You have to have the selinoid hooked in the loop somehow to do the sync properly...right???

The solenoid can be temporarily eliminated during the syncing process. Unless the diaphram is leaking vacuum, there should be no difference if the line is bypassed or connected.

How would I know if the diaphram is leaking?  I am assuming you mean the throttle vacum deal with the arm coming out the bottom. l

If you have a hand held vacuum pump (Mighty-Vac), you can hook up to the vacuum line leading to the solenoid, energize the solenoid (move shifter to drive) and check for leaks. No vacuum pump? suck on the line to get the same effect.
