OK. It always takes a little longer than I think. Next week.

IMG_826sm.jpg - Disc studs fitted.
IMG_825sm.jpg - The Disc fits! It's a shame the disc has to be ground. I love that milled pattern.  ;)  8)

Took a lot of work to get the disc flat and parallel without a proper disc machine. Did it in the mill.

Not yet, but very, very close.

Engines are in Boston being prepared by the Master - Mike Rieck.  8)

Bearings and distance collar are installed in the rear hub. They assembled within .002" of the design.  ;)
Uh-oh, wheel may be off center .001-.002" depending on the slick's symetry!  ;)  ;D
Need to trim the axel spacers - .013" off the left and .010" off the right to get the 14.000" frame spacing.
Brake disk needs to be ground and the rear wheel assembly will be finished. Yeh!

I marvel at the complexity and wonder how many guys / hours did it take to built from an idea? Amazing.

Keith............regarding the sprocket studs.........is the sprocket riding on any part of the threaded area of the studs?  If so, that is a weak point and could be VERY dangerous. A.J.Foyte was leading Indy in 1969 but had to park it because of a $0.25 bolt with threads carrying the load. Its akin to having a bad nick on a rod :(  If no threads in the load area, carry on with GREAT looking work.

I have the engines disassembled and bead blasted the cases. 4 hours of bead blasting and days of removing RTV. Have to re engineer some things like the plates sealing the rear of the engines. Personally I believe the bike will be better than it ever was in the 70's.

No side load on any of the threads either in the hub or the sprocket or the disk.
The wheel studs do load in the hub on the threads, but the lug nuts load on the wheel.
I think this will be OK since there is so much loaded surface contact between the hub and wheel.
Damn, I should be done with this project but I have had some ultra hot, paying work in the shop.
All I lack completing this project is reaming some holes in the brake caliper and grinding the disk.
