The historical wonder machine is not only repaired, it's improved too, right?
That's why it has taken so long Per. Russ has been great about it on all levels.

And I hear he is visiting shortly to see your great workmanship Mike.
Please pass on my regards to Russ.

Sam. ;)
Will do Sam. The repaired crank done by Marine Crankshaft came out great.

Nice progress pics....👍

I like the shaved fin work.  Is that the old school high temp silicone between the 1/2 3/4 gaps or something harder?

Just silicone George.....original material. I think Russ Sr had stock in GE because there were caulking tubes worth of the stuff in the original cases. Highlighting those fins took a very, very long time as they had been cut on a bandsaw and were very rough.
Marine did a fantastic job on that crank....very happy with their work.

Well Guys, we had a guy on Facebook who was having a bit of a go over the length of time the builds were taking.
I did my best to explain the situation and then Russ and David stepped in, Russ with these two responses.

Russell W Collins Jr Putting one foot in front of the other...all 5 engines needed major work...and we have day jobs.

And followed by this,

Russell W Collins Jr Were getting very close...last hurdle will be nitro plumbing done right...hate to have to learn a a new tune up.

David followed with this but seemed to stop mid sentence at the end, must have hit a wrong key, haha.

David Collins My brother Russ Jr. wanted these bikes to be as original as possible. Everything on this bike was custom built. From the Italian front end to the wing on the back. When we received this from my dad all that was left were the engines (see pictures). After a 178 mph crass they weren't in good shape either. We disassembled them, built custom crates and shipped them to Mike in Boston. Mike volunteered for this with no budget. Now go out and find 12 perfect 40 year golden rods...really! Thank you again to Mike in Boston.
All of this had to be redone from pictures.
There are no drawing, no note just 40 years old photos. Imagine rebuilding the real wheel assembly when you can't see it and there are no others. Thank you again to Kieth in Texas. Now go out and find an

After the abrupt stop, David carried on to say this.

David Collins All of this with volunteers. I can't tell you how many hours Jay from APE has spent, all on his dime. If your were to build 2 top fuel bikes today one with 3 engines and a second with 2 and a blower it would cost well in excess of $500,000.00. And take years. Thank you to all of our supporters from Europe to California we truly appreciate your time, 100s of donation in money and parts. And especially Sam Green, with his support this would not be possible. These will be done by the end of the year. AND THEN THE SHOW BEGINS.

Lets look forward to the show beginning guys, here's hoping that they are ready in time for the World Finals at Valdosta.

Regards Sam. ;)

You know.....I was gonna write something large but decided to stop. I have had to re imagine building a CB750 for these triples. I have never had to build, unbuild and and come up with entirely new engineering so many times in my life. #2 and #3 will be done by the end of the week....waiting for #1 crank back from Marine. I wish I had real wristpins and buttons....I had 3 wristpins and 5 or 6 c clips to go by.

I found the correct size pins through Wiseco Jay. No buttons for the pistons as the pin hole has been moved up into the oil ring groove to accommodate the stroked cranks.
