Bidding on rare desirable parts on eBay and having everybody publicly posting and advertising about it on the internet on bulletin boards is one natural way to drive the price up when somebody else suddenly wants the same part, or even worse, invite shill-bidding if an unscrupulous seller gets wind of it. I'm certainly not accusing anybody here of such a thing, but maybe a little discretion may be in order. We'd be helping Russ more if we simply use PM's if you got a good lead.

+1!!!!! You should bid @ the end less than a minute and bid lots.It can only go up a certain amount,no more than 1 or 2 bids,but If you bid large first,you'll win! Continually bidding only helps the seller!

You have the right idea bellcow but I was watching the bidding and it jumped almost 600 bucks in seconds.. those two were using automated bidding with high maxim bids set. As we can't see what the bid winner had his max set to I'm sure finding another source/seller is better than getting hooked in that bidding war.

Well, if say a nice aluminum tank for a CB750 becomes available on eBay and I'm the only person that knows about it, the bidding will be low (I hope). If 200 people on a CB750 website hear about it on this bulletin board, guaranteed several of them will definitely throw their bids in and the final price will go exponentially UP!
And yes, sniping a bid in the last 10 - 15 seconds is the smart move to save money. Gives competition less time to consider. You hold your cards until the last few seconds and wait. Its also more fun, just try doing it!

OK, I see where you are coming from but how many people on here want a set of Cerani forks?
I belive that there is a thread on here with peoples ebay usernames in the hope that this don't happen, I also know that if a person wants something bad enough he will ignore this.

Very interesting...as it turns out the set my Dad used were flat track style...hence the handle bar top clamp....need to check how I can pick this up. I'll be calling. I found another front end that would work just as well on that Yamaha and sell it out here to a desert guy. Tempting to keep...bad disease...these bikes.

Meanwhile I have the sport's historian on the hunt...and he is good...real good. Check out the TV gas double...that ain't how he got it!
