Does anyone have the Composite Roadracer Cafe Seat on their 550? If so, can you show pics? If you have any other recommendations with pics, please let me know. I am at the point that I need to choose which one to go with.

have you checked out dime cities an I know roc city racers makes them an has pictures of them on customer bikes

NIce looking seat, but it seems a little bit too long for the bike, IMHO.

It's a '78. Honestly I don't remember how long it is. We cut about 3-4" off the front. It fits the frame rails perfectly but like Scott said, it is a little long. I like it though.

That does look a little too long, and thats what I was afraid of. How did you mount it up? Any tips? Can you get at the battery, air cleaner, etc..? How did you cut it? Where did you get the taillight? Its hard to tell from the photo, but did you keep the inner fender on? Can you with that seat?

If you check out my build thread I've got pics of the mounts. Loosen 3 bolts and it lifts off. The tail light is from tc bros. I wouldn't suggest it as it is single filament and had to be modified. I think I'm gonna change it out to LED. I don't like the inner fender so I left it off. I'm gonna have something made out of aluminum. I could've cut the seat shorter but the hump is long and I don't think I wouldve liked it that way. Plus I'm pretty tall and it's comfortable the way it is.

Sad that nobody makes their own cafe seats these days. Yes, it takes hours of (my/your)time, but nothing for sale on the market today comes close to the perfect fit/form and zen of doing it yourself. Everyone wants the look but hardly anybody wants to put forth the effort. Not that I dont mind making them for people, just sad to see a reborn culture turn into a drive thru of sorts. To me its like finding your long lost parents after forty years only to discover that they are nothing like you. Dissapointing. As a tough critic of both fabrication and style - IMO Dustin Kott has taken the pole position. Look up Kott Motorcycles before you opt for some cheap ABS molded off the shelf unit. I dont know Dustin, I know the type; and that, my friend....is Cafe.

P.S. Herm, from DCC has some good vids posted on DIY fiber techniques as well for the "go it alone" types.

Back to fabricating....happy saddle hunting.

Love the seat!!! It comfortable as well as stylish. I do not see this one on his website do you have a link, or was this custom made for you?

Here is a seat that Dustin Kott at Kott Motorcycles makes by hand. He has many styles this is just the one I chose. I had him build my bike and he is a great guy that will work with you without issue.

I had my buddy do it. He owns an upholstery shop. It is comfortable. I'm too tall to sit in stubby seat all day. This one let's you move around in the saddle a little bit.

Yeah, same here I a 6 feet and don't wan to be too confined would love to have a seat like this one. Can you hook me up with his info?

here's my seat my son made he made a plaster mold off one that i had. it does take time to do it right.

as everyone else is saying thats a pretty long seat, but you said you were tall. how tall? I'm 6'5" and want a cafe seat (hide stuff under the hump but still want to be able to 2 up. Do you think you can fit 2 comfortable? Do you have a loop under that?

I'm 6-3". There is a loop under it. I wouldn't put two people on it though. Not quite that long.

Great to see all of the craftmanship and sweat equity pics that brought the pulse back to this thread. Inspired again, I raided Bobby Lobby for materials and began fabricating another seat...just for the fun and self satisfaction of doing so. Wife wants this one for her bike which makes it entirely cost neutral. Win/win.
