450 spotted
« on: December 13, 2011, 01:54:05 PM »
I spotted a 450 with the high side pipes (CL)? in the neighborhood, sitting outside with no seat. It looks old, drum brakes etc. It's in the same area where my old 73 500 was seen a few years ago. I need to find someone at home. Now i'll be a bike stalker until I find out.

CL had dual leading drum brakes well into the '70's and first hand they work pretty well, maybe even less parts than the cb's hydraulic brakes.

Didn't you post something on parts for sale about a guy in Western Illinois that had 450's?  What up with those?

Yes it does look like that. My brother had one, he put street tires on it and a hooker header. it was cool looking  but had a tendency to shake and tank slap at speed. He returned it to off road trim and traded on a new 74 750.

Fiddy, He didn't get the bike he wanted, so the deal didn't happen. I'm hoping he comes back around in the spring. My brother bought a couple of 750's down there. One turned into the F'nK.

Closer to home, I'm really hoping to find my old 500 again. I did talk to a neighbor kid that was working on a racing  chevy cobalt, he doesn't know anything about it either.
