Is this project tank still in play, either in cadd as diy or finished product.  I think it is worth much more than the previous suggestion, at least to me .

Would love to see cleaner images and a final status of VTEC's tank. Looks great.

I'm still waiting for another person on the forum to make me one to fit the rear plastic fender area, but I'd easily go $150 for one.

3.5 qts?

When I change oil, I put three qts in the tank, run for short time then top off with forth quart.  Been doing that since I bought it in 1974, never any problems.

VTEC, you can plug the rear crankcase fitting, but only if your custom oil tank has a means to vent. The oil tank cutaway pictured in your post does not show a vented design, this means that excess oil can only be relieved from the oil tank overflow to the rear crankcase fitting.

The crankcase is designed to flow from the rear crankcase oil fitting then up to the valve cover which vents vapors and blow-by to the atmosphere. This is easily checked by blowing air into the rear crankcase fitting.

Wait...  You're tellin me that the little nubbin on the top is to atmosphere and the one on the bottom goes to the oil tank?  What if someone were to hook that up in reverse?  Just want to confirm that this picture is right.  When I got my bike that line ran from the oil tank to that top fitting.  I left it there, none the wiser.

Hooking the top one to the tank is wrong but won't hurt anything. It goes from eng to atmosphere, or to the airbox in later models.

The bottom one serves 2 purposes. It is a smaller dia tube and runs to its mat on the lower part of the oil tank. ITs a vent frm the eng to tank. ITs a fefed for the chain oiler from tank to eng.

If it is left to the atmosphere where is the lower tank spigot? Its too small to tightly hold the one from the cam cover.

If it is left to atmosphere it wil puke oil on the swingarm and rr tire.

IF the lower tank spigot is to atmosphere, it too will puke oil.

I want to bump this because this oil tank is amazing and someone really needs to start fabing these! I found one online that mounts on the other side of the triangle, it bolts on to where the rear fender would bolt, but it sells for $330.

http://www.benjiescaferacer.com/oil-tank.php

I can't decide which placement is better. The one from this forum looks really good where it is and I also like how it allows people to see through to the rear tire. But the one mounted on the other side might do a better job cooling the oil because it is further from the engine and would probably get more air rushing against it. It would also double as the inner portion of the rear fender helping keep debris away from the engine. I guess it is personal preference. Anyway, someone please start making these and sell me one for less than $330, I think that is a little too steep.

As I mentioned to Bradshaw in a pm I was able to make half a prototype then my equipment source ran out. My design fits perfect between the tabs build in for the low front half of the rear fender (the plastic bit). Is the same volume and acts as a new fender, all while behind hidden behind the posts.

I wasn't able to finish it before my source for tools went away. Fully finished with time and effort I'd say a reasonable price would be around 250 shipped.

This one is made from 18 gauge steel and would take just about anything thrown at it.

I am very close to needing one for my 750 build and have lined up a fabricator. I have a couple of friends that have been club racing for decades and know this guy. I have a cardboard prototype but just waiting for chain & sprockets to arrive before final fitment. I'll post here when I have progress.
