CB500 Yosh header on ebay
« on: December 16, 2011, 05:58:57 pm »
I already have one and my next engine will use a 650 head and larger head pipes. I'll pass this along to someone else.

This one looks quite different than the pics I saw of yours.  The radii on the bends on yours are much larger.  I think I heard there were two different versions from Yoshi though.  One was all handbent, the other only partially so.  Can you confirm Kayaker?

I think that pipe was really for a 350/400f.  Read the details in the ad.  There were various versions of genuine Yoshimura pipes, handbent, and machine (mandrel?) bent throughout the years.

Yeah, I've been thinking I had a Yoshimura header but I found some old paperwork and it was made by Yoshima! Not much difference though. I've also heard the hand bent headers have much larger radius bends.

Here's a pic of the Yoshima for comparison

Greggo brought up a good point, the ebay pipe may not be for a 500/550. Notice how the headpipe ends on mine don't terminate in a single plane like the ebay pipe seems too? The 500's pipes exit from the head at angles instead of parallel to eachother,.. not sure about 400's?

Oops, maybe I got yours mixed up with someone else's.  I know Squirley's bike (CB550) supposedly had one, could never get any pms back from the guy.  But his exhaust has curves visually identical to a 750 Yoshimura handbent version.

My mistake, I always thought mine was a Yoshimura so my old posts referring to it were incorrect. I just found out recently I was wrong.

The same seller had a very drool worthy handbent Yosh pipe with magnesium flanges for a 500?? I e-mailed questions but only got an answer on weight which he said was 8.9lbs, the other pipe you mention was 9.6lbs.

I just couldn't pull the trigger on something I wasn't sure of but I'll bet someone here scooped that baby up.

Was that the one with the big hole in the bottom of the muffler?  That one needed some serious patchwork.

No it was a brand new very trick one piece pipe with those magnesium flanges. It sold for cheap at $511. I'm just unsure what model it fit.

Wow, I hadn't seen that one!  Nice!  It looks like it is the 500/550 model.
