Smokin' stems...redux
« on: December 17, 2011, 12:49:19 AM »

Hi all, first post here. I've got a 1980 cb750c project that I was planning on using parts of later model sport bikes.
This morning I went out into the garage and put a penny in the parts fund jug. Now there are two in there. I hope they like each other, because if they don't start getting "busy" I'm not getting any parts soon.

I have a non running 1990 vn750. I was thinking about using the forks, trees, stem and wheel from that, until I can get a set of forks I really like.
I've found the charts for steering stem bearing sizes and compatibility. I dont think I'll have a problem getting the bearings to make it work.
I dont know how long the stems are on each bike. I have the honda one removed and I'd like to know the measurement for the vn750 before I remove it.
I've searched the net and cant find the specs anywhere, probably looking in the wrong spots--figured I'd check here before calling around.
Thanks

Ah the search for the elusive steering stem length chart, I know it well.  You'll probably have to just measure it yourself.
Check the link in my signature line for some info that may be useful.

Shoutout to any of the mods... can this information be cut, pasted, cross refrenced, catalogued and google indexed, and stuck on sticky topics, perhaps on suspension and forks?
