74 550 Carb Linkage with Pictures
« on: December 17, 2011, 10:08:08 AM »
I have two pictures of the linkage on my carburetors.  It is the adjustment holders.  My question is about the adjustment on the slotted bolt and how tight should it be?

You can see the slot in this picture.

Kinda blurry

The part with the larger diameter threads should be fully screwed into the aluminum "link" component.  It is basically a "threaded insert", and once screwed all the way in should not be disturbed.

The slotted screw is where you do your carb synchronization, so the position will vary slightly depending on the sync procedure.  One the larger piece is repositioned properly into the aluminum link, I would say that a good "starting" point for the slotted screw is to have four or five full threads showing above the nut.

Thanks Kevin.  Got it all back together and synchronized the carbs with a 1/8" drill bit.  Thought I remembered reading that somewhere here.  Ready to put them on and see if the thing will run.
