I'm not sure what you mean by difference between "CR and CR750" ? but as far as I understand it, an original CR750 was a race only bike built by the factory for there race team and I believe were also referred to Works Bikes.

I'm sure theres more to it, that you could find in line; but that should be the basics.

BTW; being from IL, you should hook up with the Chi'Vin'Moto.

ive read some threads that distinguish a "CR replica" and an "RC bike". i dont know the distinction between the two except for the seat. but i dont know whats that.

i took some drill brush wheels to my cylinder head and swingarm, but then i stopped and realized, "im never going to get everything stripped and polished with this method."

i smell corrosion  >:(

would anyone be able to recommend a good beadblaster and/or polisher in the region?

Yikes, you hit the cylinder head mating surface with a wire brush??  That's asking for oil leaks.  At this point I would take it to a machine shop and have them clean up the head, machine down the mating surface, and hone the cylinders.

I had a feeling it might not be a good idea, but I just assumed the gasket would take care of any tiny gaps.
Oh well, I'm done attempting to clean it anyway. May as well go the whole 9 yards with it.

Edit: ....since it wont be ready (now) until after the end of riding season. heck, i may even get new HC pistons!
