Well - Brian is obviously doing well.

I called in at lunch time today to say g'day and got told he was off at a local festival on a day trip.

Ah well - I will try again next week, probably get there and find he is out at a dance!

Has anyone been to see the old fart this weekend or is he still not back from the festival. ;D ;D ;D

Keep up the good work you locals, keep plodding forward Brian. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Great new People, this off Brian when I got up this morning.

G'day Sam,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.
I swapped over to rehab's wireless network and cancelled my own connection but I have been unable to log onto the SOHC Forum since.
Al's well now though, their IT guru fixed it up for me today.

Thanks again for all your help and support Sam it is much appreciated.
What a great bunch of blokes we have on this forum.
If not for Terry, your good self and the rest of the crew my first couple of months after the accident would have been a lot more stressful than it was.

While we had sold the hotel in September monies from the deposit and the first payment went directly to our bank in dept repayment before we left for Tasmania.
When I became layed up down here the buyer decided to play silly buggers with the the final payment and the stock on hand.

The help that we received from the group that you organized and coordinated got Evelyn and I through a very sticky patch.

Cheers,
Brian

I've dropped 30kg that's from 125kg to 95kg.
I just got of the phone to the mob that made a new set of leathers for me a couple of years ago.
Newmo had to cut them off me for the ambose after the accident.
I'm hoping that with my new svelte frame there may be enough leeway to repair them.

I remmember when I had them made originally they sent me a fitting sheet.
Basically I had to be measured every two inches down the entire length of my body.
Evelyn got the job, she managed get about halfway down before she broke out into fits of laughter.
Anyway we finally managed to finish the measurements and fax then off.
I followed up with a phone call the next day and made a smart arse comment about them not making cows that big.
The girl on the other end of the line shot straight back, saying that no they didn't but they could sow two together. ;D ;D ;D

Cheers,
Brian

We have very big Buffalo's up in NT Brian...

Sounds like you could pull on the leathers they cut you out of, and they could stitch you back in whilst removing the torn stuff.

Kinda 'Edward Scissorhands' costume look.

Brian

Good to here from you mate.

If you ever get up this way for a visit, you'll have to call into the Adelaide River Pub for a cold beer and say g'day to Charlie the Buffalo who's in the 303 Bar at the pub.

They know how to knock up some good tucker there as well.
It's a bloody good spot.

Hey Brian - good to see you back on the boards mate, and so happy for you that things are progressing so well.
Keep up the good work. Was great to meet you at the Island.

You're lucky with those leathers mate, mine shrunk in the cupboard, must have been cheap crap. ::)

Cheers

Spoke to Ev on the phone tonight.
She is at my sisters.
I sent her up for a bit of R&R.
Until now she hadn't left my side since the crash in November.
I mentioned that I had started to write a race report for you blokes on the forum.
She thought it was a good idea and told me to get stuck into it.
As we where about to say our goodbye's and hang up I told her the boys had just about finished repairing the bike.
They have come up with a plan that would allowe us to run the rear and sidecar brakes from the handle bars and still comply with the GCR's.
I told her I thought I could get myself fit enough to ride the Island Classic come next January.............

......... I think I've broken her heart :(.........
......... God I can be a selfish bastard sometimes.

Yeah - not sure if 'lead balloon' is the right description, but I hope Ev saw the lighter side of that comment too!

Does that mean you are just knocking around the rehab centre on your own for the weekend then Brian?

If it's in ya blood mate, it'll always be there.
I reckon that's just a fact of life.
It's bloody hard for others to understand that though.

My Dad was horrified at some of the things I did as a young buck, especially the progression from old AJ's, Matchys, Beezas & Trumpys to Honda 4's & Kwaka 9's.
21yo was the estimation of my life span back then but I've just kicked 56 over so there ya go.  8)  ;D  ;)
I can understand all of that stuff now but be buggered if I did or wanted to back in the day.  ;D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Hey Bear... keep on keepin' on with riding if you love it, it's about living life the way you want... she'll come around.

When I was 18 I got my first street bike, an 89 Honda VTR250, I thought I was invincible until a douchebag in a car did a u-turn in front of me and I t-boned him at about 55.  I walked away.  What did I do?  I went a bought a 94 Honda CBR600... my dad hated that!

When I met my wife she was riding a 98 Honda VFR800, shortly thereafter she was run off the road by a similar douchebag and she ended up in the grassy median with 2 broken wrists.  The docs fixed her up, I fixed her bike up, and our next ride was a 2000 mile round trip filled with plenty of scary moments, but she did just fine and got over her new found fear.  Her parents respected her determination, but hated that she was yet again back on the bike!

We all know the risks, and if some of us don't, they just haven't had that first wreck... knowing the risks is half the battle to staying alive.  You're a testament to what the other half of staying alive is.   ;)

Hey Brian,
It's not hard to understand Ev's feelings at a statement like that, I would think it is quite natural.
You can take the boy off the bike but you can't take the bike out of the boy. I'm sure she will know that and eventually come to see that you have to do what you have to do. It won't be easy for her but she'll see you're happy and doing something you love.
I wish you well with the discussions and of course wish you well with continuing recovery.
Hope to see you at the island next January in different circumstances than this year.
All the best mate.
Peter.

Well I rode my Triumph over to visit the selfish old bastard (hey, Brian's words, not mine, I don't think he's selfish at all, accident prone perhaps, but definitely not selfish, ha ha!) because I knew that Ev had gone home for the first time since Brian's crash and I thought he might be lonely, but he was out on a day trip! Bloody social butterfly, if it wasn't such a nice day for a ride, I'd be miffed! Anyway, I hope you had a good day Brian, and I'll catch up with you one day this week. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah Pete, it really is nice to be "back in the saddle". Did I tell you that I threatened to write a letter to every motorcycle magazine in Oz warning potential Rocket III owners about the hazards of ownership, including Triumph not standing behind their product, and now City Triumph have offered me a refund of 300 beans and the next service (600-900 bucks worth, depending on mileage) free? Not as much as I'd like, but more than I expected, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D

See - with Ev away I though the 'cat might play' so I rang ahead and in the end I saved myself a trip to Kew, but still went for a short ride.

Which then gave me more time to work on documenting and researching these two old girls that have turned up in a shed around the corner from my place.
