Good to see Brian on the mend.
He's got a long journey ahead and he's got the fighting spirit and a bunch of great guys and family behind him.

Did you tell him that he's not allowed to have a swinger on that motorised chair. 

+1, thanks for the update Terry, great to see Brian is on the mend.  Don't think he's worrying about a swinger Mick.  More likely trying to figure out if he can get more speed out of that chair.

that is great news ,but the hard work has only just begun for brian , this is the hardest part mentally as well as physically . it is very important that brian knows who his friends are .

G'Day Sam, thanks mate, I'll pass the moola on to Brian next week, and I know he'll be stoked by everyone's continued support. I don't know for sure, but I don't think Brian broke his leg, I think that he's wearing some kind of compression socks, probably to help with blood circulation in his legs?

He looks like he's really enjoying cruising around on that chair, but he's already determined that it's got a high C of G, so I'm thinking that the hospital better lock up it's workshop, or he might be doing some handling mods, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.

What I do know is that the fund for Brian has just topped £1,400 (GBP). That relates to,

I live closer to the bloody Austin than Terry does - it is a 5 minute ride away from home (never mind Brian has now been moved to Kew, that is still a hop,skip,jump from here).

Terry, if you are going in to visit Brian and if it is okay for me to come along, please let me know.

Plus, I will slip you some cash towards his recovery fund when I pick up my bike on Sunday.

I am sorely embarrassed that I have not been paying attention when there is a fellow rider in need just around the corner from me, so I will see what I can do to make up for lost time.

No need to feel embarrassed maduncle, I didn't find this thread until after it had been running for weeks.  The important thing is that you have.  More importantly you have offered both personal, and some financial support.  Thanks.

I will talk to Terry and see what use I can be here, since I am local - and I will chip in.

I have one more idea, I am planning on listing my CB750F cafe racer for sale soon, I could set a fundraising target against it when I list it on eBay and say that anything over the reserve goes to the fund, or that 10% of the final sale price goes to the fund - how does that sound?

You're a good man Cliff, and of course you're welcome to come visit Brian, either with me, or  whenever it suits you, the more visitors he gets, the better.

 I didn't know Brian before Sam sent me over to see him and back then he was still in a pretty bad way, and didn't recognise me right away, but was still happy to have some strange overweight man to yack to about bikes until he finally realised who I was.

He's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to building CB750 based race engines on a budget, and it's amazing what you can still use from an original 750 and still get reliable horsepower.

I'll be dropping in to see him tomorrow on my way back from East Sale, and to pass on some more money that Sammy sent me. Brian's in the spinal rehab unit at the Royal Talbot, and visiting hours are from 11 am to 8 pm every day, but call them first because he might be with his physio, Mark. Cheers, Terry.

Yep, the cops wouldn't know a Honda 750 from a hole in the ground mate, and you can say you chose HTR-01 because VFR-01 was already taken, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.

I dropped in to see Brian again today, and he was in really good spirits, and we had a great chat about, as you'd all expect, SOHC4s! Brian's been working hard with his rehab, he does two sessions per day, each for a couple of hours, and he said that it is really helping him get some feeling back, which is fantastic. The Leeton Motorcycle Club are dropping in to see him tomorrow, and he's really looking forward to seeing his club mates again, he hasn't seen most of them since before the crash in November last year, so he'll have some catching up to do. 

Also, Brian is escaping from the hospital for a few hours on one day of the "Phillip Island Classic", (Oz's premium classic motorcycling race weekend, on January 27th to 29th) and he's really looking forward to it, last year he was racing but this year he's just happy to be able to spectate. I told him that I'll be there for one day of the racing, and if the slow boat from "Un Zud" arrives by then, I'll be taking GZ for a trip to motorcycling's Valhalla, and it'd be great to get a pic of Brian with GZ at the Island together.

I also had the honor of handing over another 750 Aussie bucks on behalf of you guys, and Brian was just blown away by your continued generosity. He asked me to thank everyone again, and he said that it just makes everything that he and his family are going thru just a little bit easier. Anyway, thanks again guys, and I hope you all feel pretty good about yourselves, knowing that your generosity is making a difference to someone's life, and as opposed to some "charity" organisations, all of the money you send to Sammy goes to Brian!
