Well apart from being 2200 bucks poorer, (well $2204.50, to be precise) it's been a good day. I picked the bike up around lunchtime and enjoyed the ride from the city out to the Royal Talbot to visit Brian. He was having a shower at Ev's unit (self contained apartment) at the rear of the hospital, so I chatted with Ev over a cup of tea while waiting for Brian to be bathed by one of his nurses.
I'm constantly amazed at the high level of care Brian is getting under the "Medicare" system, including Ev's unit. I hear a lot of negative media about Victoria's public health system, but I can happily report that anyone unfortunate enough to have a serious spinal injury need not worry about not being well looked after, there was a constant stream of nurses and carers wandering thru the unit while I was there, and Brian was wanting for nothing. Good stuff.
I hung out with him for a couple of hours and I brought the Rocket down from the top car park so he could check it out, and the noise brought a couple more bikers out for a chat, including Brians new mate and fellow patient Col, who messed himself up pretty badly 6 months ago when he got T Boned by a rather large Kangaroo which threw him and his Aprilia Tuono into a tree. He broke just about everything from his wrists back to his shoulders and down to his pelvis, punctured both lungs, etc etc. Like Brian, he doesn't feel sorry for himself, and just wants to yack about bikes, which suits me fine.
Anyway, I rode the Triumph home feeling pretty good, it was a nice sunny day, the bike was running well, and I'd got to spend some time chatting with Brian. All in all, a good day. Cheers, Terry.
