CARB SWAP, PLEASE HELP
« on: December 18, 2011, 04:39:47 PM »
Can i replace a cb550k (1978) carbs with the carbs from a cb550f (69A carbs)? Are they highly compatible or will I have to change other parts as well?

Thank you

I am certainly not a 550 expert, but I would think that would be fine, do the carb bodies themselves look the same externally? ...you may have to swap jets at most, just take the float bowls off and make sure they have the same number on the jets(it's real small and hard to read)
If it works good, it looks good...

im suprised that all i have to do. I was expecting more intrusive work. yes they are similar in size. the jets are different sizes, should i be concerned that the retofit jets wont mid a different model carb cyclinder?

Thanks

Different intake boots/air box/jetting.  You will need all the corresponding hardware to successfully swap.
