would it work?

I been thinking I have a set of pistons and rods out of a 1980 yamaha leguna seca 750 pistons are 65mm and rods are a little shorter than the honda ones are.But the big end is smaller. does anyone think i can get away with turning the crankshaft down size and offset to make them fit and to make up the small rod length diffrence.

I was thinking after saying no. It's always been banded about that when a Honda crank gets marked it is toast.
Then again, Jay at APE our forum sponsor does do stroker conversions on these cranks. :-\

good point Sam. the reason the cranks normally can't be turned down is because of the limited choice of bearings. IMHO

Problem is to get over(or under-)sized bearings.

it must have been in the early 80ies, we had a stroker cbx1000 running in the endurance world championship. the engine had more than 1300ccm and performed more than well. i remember the big eyes of the honda works rider when he was not able to pass our cbx on the straight (however endurance WC was limited to 1000ccm, but that time I was only rider and not builder of the bike  ;) ).
the bike run 3 hours until the crank broke. for normal street use it could last forever, maybe.

the bearings came from an Austin A30.

the crank is only surface hardened , if you turn it down to suit the new rods you will have to get it re treated . i suspect jay hard-welds his cranks and then resizes the big end pin . nothing is impossible but i doubt using these rods and pistons is worth the trouble and expense .

mec , that must be the fastest an A30 austin bearing has ever been .
