At the track I first competed at (Piedmont NC) riding Dusterdudes (Mark) CBR600F3 where I met rockingM (Rob) and Dragracer (Frank Loney),  turn up the volume and enjoy.

gee man, do they put super glue on those tires?

even coming from sticky road racing ones, its hard to believe how such a long wheelbase thing will still hook up and wheelie.....

kudos for not hitting the guardrail... ;)

The Super Glue is on the track Yossef. Have you ever noticed how drag strips always look like they are wet.
It's some sort of industrial glue that stays tacky. Lower powered bikes like mine will always run slower on a fully prepaired track than on asphalt or concrete by as much as half a second.

Thats Shawn Gann on his outlaw pro street/grudge bike. Shawn races pro stock motorcycle now with NHRA. Yeap, that bike was long and low.

And it was a pleasure to meet Sam and Mark that day. Unfortunately i was not up to the task with my F model during eliminations and went out 2nd round. It was just too dang cold to be racing.

Yes, the very same people. Piedmont was known for putting on bike race back in the 80 and 90's. Both Elmer Trett and Larry Mc Bride would come out to match race at those events. Lots of the top fuel Harley guys came as well. They had a lot of classes to fit just about any bike with  guaranteed purses. Southern Cycle Racing Association was the series.

 Tracks were prepped with VHT... means Very High Traction..
 They used a lot of it at Kent(Seattle)Wa.. where I met Nitro Hunter..that vtrack is so sticky that your feet would start to stick.... Lots of car wheelies cand  broken axles..  used to be a video around of Jones Boys Vega standing strasight up till the back bumper dragged....yeah it hurt itself when it came down...

cant think why nobody thought of applying VHT to road race tracks then......

ice racing lean angles would be possible :)

That was ballsy. wow.

The cost of traction compound is starting to be felt at the drag strips. On a track with turns it would be scary sticky and not something you would want to start. I did see a new stock car surface was dragged with drag strip equipment. They use old slicks and drag them on the track to lay down some rubber.
 I believe it is tree resin (sap) dissolved in methanol or acetone. It will take your shoes off.
 The best burnout I ever did was my front engine small block car, high gear and on the red line it moved out of the water box, hit the sticky spot and you could hear the tires rip into the pavement, I was 60' out there before I knew it. My gut was still back in the wwater box.
  I still maintain if someday I'm an old fart laying in a nursing home and don't even know my name, I'll still remember that burnout.

I've long said there is some additive in VHT thats floats through the air after a burnout that is very additive. The prelude is when they spray it on the track and you get a whiff of that sweetish smell. Ahhhh, one hit and you're addicted to drag racing for life with no chance for rehabilitation. Enter those gates cautiously because  although there is help for an alcoholic, a sex addict, and even an overeater, there is no rehab for drag racing!!!
