If you are the one and only owner of your beloved sohc4 has ever know please speak up. Post some pics of the special bike, than and now if possible and the history of that bike and what made you hold on to it for all these years and not sell it like some many of us other members have done including myself :(

I still have my original 1970 CB750 JDM. I bought it new in Japan in1970 when I was in the Navy and put in on my ship  and brought it back too the states, then rode it home to Alabama from California. I never even thought about selling it,My wife says I would sell her before I would sell the bike, but I plan on keeping both.

Wish I could of had a new one back in the day,but was still a little too young. The only 'new' bike I ever had was an early 70's Suzuki TC125 that I bought after saving $$'s selling strawberrys.Got it during the winter as a holdover model and think it was around $375-$400.00 brand new out the door. Dad was riding a new 500 Titan then also.

I was just barely smart enough to hold onto the 550 all these years, but I kick myself to this day for getting rid of a mint condition Honda 305 "Superhawk" when I bought the 550. The dealer gave me $200 trade in for it (ouch). I'd love to be able to restore that now legendary bike. Live and learn.

This should be a really interesting thread. Thanks to dhall for starting it.

I bought my 1970 Cb750 new in Sunnyvale, California. Rode it regularly. Moved to Washington in 1976 and the rain eventually led to abandoning riding for 20 or so years. I restored the bike about 3 years ago and my wife and I ride it every chance we get. I have a 99 Goldwing but really like riding the 750.

At work now, so no pictures, but my 75 550K1 was purchased on Saturday, January 11th, 1975, at Clear Lake Honda (closed in about 1980) southeast of Houston.  It's a totally disassembled project at the present but every thing is in good shape and will get freshened up and put back together soon, hopefully before next summer.  Love this little bike, even though I have had and currently have others.  This one will have to be willed to someone who will take care of it.

Bought my gold 1970 CB 750 KO new in San Mateo, California in June of 70.  Life changes caused me to put it in storage for 20 + years (thankfully I didn't sell it) and I recently took it out of storage and had it gone through by the pro's at "Charlie's Place" in San Francisco.  Charlie and crew work only on vintage Honda's and it's the go-to place for info and parts on these bikes in our area.  I will post pictures shortly, but for now let me just say the bike is once again ready for the road after an extensive going over and upgrading.  I elected to keep it original, that is, not a complete restore, but maintain the patina left from its age and just correct and improve what had deteriorated over the years.  Cosmetically the bike is in excellent shape and now all the running gear, brakes, forks, clutch, "O ring" chain and sprockets to accommodate the heavier chain, cables, hoses, speedometer, tach refaced, etc., etc., have been cleaned up, or what wasn't available, fabricated new.   All in all an awesome refurbish for a great bike.  In addition, I elected, at Charlie's suggestion, to go with a new electronic ignition system.  Now if I can just find a set of training wheels to get this old man sharpened up so I can get back on the road without damaging the bike ...

I purchased my CB750K1 in April 1971 when I was 19 for the earthly sum of $1995 CDN.  After the trade of my 1970 CB450 the total price with taxes in was $1202 CDN.  The last time she was licensed was 1976.  After finding this forum I retrieved her from my long term storage site (mother-in-laws garage).  Attached is a pic of her, sans carbs, shortly after I retrieved her.

I did not sell her, because if I did, in the back of my mind I would have the urge to buy another motorcycle.  I almost gave her away ten years ago, but that thought lasted a few seconds  ::)

Since finding this forum I have spent a few thousand on new parts including a new set of HM300's from DSS.  Note to self ... I do get carried away  :o

She is now my hobby and I love tinkering away.  No immediate plans to complete her upgrades.  Unfortunately that four letter word "work" gets in the way.

Btw I find all the members of this forum very helpful.  Also, when I was new here I started an "oil" thread; I can still hear the popcorn popping  ::)

I bought my 750K3 in 73 (18 yrs old)for $1600 at Honda City in Montreal were I worked as a mechanic. I roadraced it, drag raced it, travelled everywhere with it and never ever has it left me stranded. It has been my only street bike in all these thirty eight years. We don't add up the miles like we used to so are only at 96000.  ;D

The only old picture I could find from 1974 I think. We were on our way to roadraces at Bryar in NH. That's me checking out my bike just after I had tossed it flat tracking around a corner on that gravel road.

This thread is amazing. I can see the love and devotion to these machines in the words and images of those who, like myself, have lived the better part of our adult lives with these bikes. Hopefully both the bikes and ourselves will be around for a long time to come.

That is one sweet lookin' example bwaller. Isn't it amazing how clean a bike can look on a rainy background?
I'd like to know what rear shocks they are on there, also are they alloy rims? They look great.
Not meaning to be critical at all, but is the emblem on the right side cover a left hand one?

I purchased my CB750K4 new in September 1974 in Galesburg, IL.
In '75 I installed a Windjammer fairing and in '76 I installed a king/queen seat. This fall I decided to try it without the Windjammer again.  Since I don't ride it long distance, I Love It!  The bike handles much better without the weight up front.
This winter I need to put new seals in the forks and remove the Windjammer frame.  And new tires.  And I'd like a different seat.  And.....
I could easily spend more on refurbishments than I've spent on the bike since I bought it!  (Including the original purchase price.)

Frostyboy, no the emblem is correct. Alloy rims and Works Performance shocks....and it's not raining!

EDIT,  I had forgotten and had to go check the emblem to be sure, but you're absolutely right I do have a left emblem on that right cover. I recall now having my sidecovers stolen around 91. I had extra covers but only left side small emblems. Good eye man.

Already there have been posts from 2 or 3 guys who purchased their bikes in 1970 and have kept them for 41+ years. Amazing!!! This makes me feel like I was late to the party with my '74 550 (purchased June 8, 1974 in Montebello, CA). I think we should chip in and get the guy who can produce the oldest bill of sale for a continuously owned SOHC some 1970 (or 1969?) champagne.
