Bill, it looks like that is a dual-point distributor? (for those not familiar with automotive type distributors, dual-point systems were used in performance applications to increase the dwell, and thus the coil saturation time.)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Bill, how about if you set a minimum bid of $150, and include shipping within the US (shouldn't cost more than $11-15 flat rate). Worst case would be only $15 to the fund, but I think there will be some serious bidding on this one! ;) More pics, please. Jon, any info in your RC catalogs about the VW style distributor?

I guess yer talking to me ?   In the R.C. catalogs there is no spec's on the distributor.  But i have owned alot of VW's in my years, stock and high performance.  Any distributor or magneto that will fit a type 1 VW engine
will fit the R.C. angle drive.  A aftermarket electronic ignition for the VW distributor would be the best. Screw that dual point setup.  Here's what i'm talking about.... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=397477         I'm posting all the info that came with the R.C. Engineering angle drive setup.....

With the old Mallory distributor, i 'm pretty sure you can update it to a better electronic setup like pertronix
 and others out there.   ;)
               Here's one for a kz900/1000  with a Vertex magneto........

Here is a Mallory Super Mag III  I picked up.  4 AMPS OF POWER !!   These new are $ 1,000.oo !!   :o
  Found it on a VW website for $ 150.00    ;D ;D

Here is a 009 VW distributor with the electronic conversion installed . The coil to use with this would be a Bosch " BLUE COIL " .

Good luck to whom ever wins this very rare piece of R.C. Engineering hardware !!!   8) 8)

Woohoo! I've always wanted one of them, so I'll bid $250.00 on the RC dizzy! :D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Who was it that said Australia was full of deported British criminals ?

Hey I object to that inference Sammy, my ancestors were Irish Criminals! ;D

Hey that Knighthoood sounds good, I think you should get the Queen to offer up a free knighthood to auction off, I think "Sir Terence of Mill Park" has rather a nice ring to it? Cheers, Terry. ;D
