Hey boys just wondering does anyone know if the 75 and 76 tanks are differant . I have a all origanal 76 and a parts bike that is a 75 with the blue tank . i put them in the basement  for the winter and  noticed the 75 tank is wider than the 76 . any chance this isn't a 1975 750f tank

Can you post a photo?
The 75 and 76 F tanks should be the same.

75 and 76 tanks are the same.for a long time I thought mine was a 76, but turns out its a 75. I have a spare 76 tank and it goes straight on.

Hope that helps

Does your 76 look like this. Just turned it over the 5,000 mile mark this summer darn it. Not a major F guy, sold what was a blue75 this fall but they do go down the road nice  ;)  The tanks should interchange for those whopping two years and there some cool colors. Love the blue but that 'lemon' or sulphur yellow is sweet.
Back in the day yellow was not as cool because it represented the color of 'lemon' which manufactures did not want to associate with much then.
Pics are worth a thousand words.  (day I brought it home) now its a hipster bobber chopper cafe   ;)     Eric                     not

Blue always makes your ass look fat so...... ;)  Compare the bung holes for your petcock.  If one is tighter than the other it's a 77/8 tank.  ;D  Really.

well i have looked at both bung holes  many times and they both are the same . my cock fits both one not being any tighter than the other . i took some measurements the area between the  rubber front mounts on my yellow 76 is 4in the same area on the 75 is is 5in across. also another spot i measured is were the inner shell meats the outer shell gets welded together on the front of the tank . my yellow one is 9in across the blue 11in

This is my thought that some fat ass must have owned this blue bike and since it made him look so skinny maybe he put a little to much belly one day while he was getting the ton with all the raw power that comes out of these super sports . when he did he mashed the tank out ?????? or maybe its off something else. If we decide that is a f tank and just  need squeezed back together anyone got any thoughts

Blue tank IS 75 750F - yellow  tank IS 76 750F

Both my blue tanks measure 4" - your's is definitely stretched out! How? Why?!  WTF?! They were probably stuffing something else under it or using it on another bike.
