Father/Son Project and some cool LED's
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:35:05 AM »
My kid got this cool electric Razor Scoot from the big man in red this Christmas.  He's been bombing around the hood with his buddies, sometimes well past dark.  (its actually pretty darn fast for an electric)
We live in a great neighborhood for kids to play, but there are few streetlights, so visibility after the sun goes down has always been a parental concern.  I happened to find  www.oznium.com  a while ago while looking for those flexible LED light strips for rebuilding our Honda gauge clusters.

I returned to the site and found these cool little 1cm x 1cm waterproof prewired surface mount LED's to give his ride a little visibility.

I picked up 4 red and 2 blue.  Fark are they bright!    :o
Prewired with 3' leads and a resistor, some nice adhesive backing, and ready for 12v. It took us about an hour to dismantle his bike, route and fix the wires, solder, and button everything back up.   Dad is cool once again!
The first 8" or so of these is flat ribbon (very flexible) and the resistor,  but the leads beyond that can be trimmed down.

Fast shipping, Easy ordering. Lots of other cool stuff on the site for custom lighting.
these would be useful too for custom upper triple tree lights.

Aren't you afraid someone might mistake him for the police with those blue ones?  And by "someone", I mean the police.  They usually don't like people impersonating them.  After dark, you can't tell that it is just a kid on that thing.  But it does look way cool.

When I worked for a Honda dealer, we were a Polaris dealer as well, and we had a Polaris one.  We did wheelies around the showroom.

I put a strip on the rear of my dragster, it is very bright even past the 1/4 mile and couldn't be easier to install. These would be almost invisible when turned off on the back of a bike seat or fender. I'll post a picture when I come back from the shop later. One for running one for brakes and two small ones at the sides for winkers.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I had a blue reflector on my liscense plate bolt and got pulled over and ticketed, cops say only cops can have blue lights. They could have warned me,but NO,I got a ticket.
its better to regret something you have done, than something you havent.Except playing with explosives.
