The oil shouldn't drain down into the pan? You have to drain the pan and drain the tank from it's own plug.

And I also second the "beg, borrow, or steal a spare tank" thought. I would lend you my rat tank if you were closer. lol

Dang me its all coming back now. I`ll blame it on the 70`s. lol Finding a second tank is what I`ll do but I `m going to look for the proper year( mine has a 75 ? on it. I`ll use it for the spare...............Gary

Hi the oil is in the tank not in the sump this is why dry sump.
