My Norton won Best in Show today! PIC HEAVY!
« on: August 03, 2014, 02:07:09 PM »
I decided to enter my Dominator in a local Classic Show today. Had a lovely 40 mile ride there, the sun shone all day, the bacon and egg rolls were the dogs nuts, and best of all, I won a prize! Thought I'd share some pics from the show, first one is (of course) my Dommie :)

There were a few Hondas there too

Some lovely old Brit-Iron

A couple of very nice cafe racers

Had to get a picture of this, cos I used to have one

If there had been a WTF category, these two would have been contenders

There were also a lot of Harleys, but I've taught my camera not to take pictures of those :)

Thanks lads. Its a 1958 Model 99 and I've owned it since 2007. It was a basket case, been off the road for 40 odd years, and took me two years in my spare time to restore it. I entered a few shows with it a couple of years back and did quite well, but I really wasn't expecting anything today after so long. Nice surprise, amazing what a bit of polish can do!

While I was there today, the PO's son came over and said hello. His dad, who passed away last year, had owned the bike for 45 years. Poor guy started crying when he saw it, he remembers riding pillion on it when he was a kid. I told him I'd never sell it, and he was well chuffed. Made my day to see him :)

I have noticed that you Folks over in the UK do some of the finest restorations and really follow a strict code of detail to your works. Some very interesting machines in your show also. Congrats on the prize.

The only Norton I've ever ridden looked just like the black Commando you posted. I only road it a few miles (back in the late 70's) and I remember liking it so much more than the couple of Triumphs I had ridden. Never have ridden a BSA.

Great job on the Dominator and congratulations on the award. Thanks for sharing the pics also. When I was young, I worked at a local Triumph dealer and fell in love with the Brit stuff. I especially like the AJS scrambler.

Kev has it, RD400.

TBH, there were so many different and interesting marques there this year it was hard to select which ones to post. My own favourite was the Triton, although I do have a soft spot for the Velos too :)

I had a velo that I restored and loved it ,they are a very nicely made bike with parts that you can just admire when you are holding them.my fav road bike was a commando that I built with hand selected parts from every year from 69 to 75 80 mph all day without complaint!bill
