Topic: Sandcast 750

Hi Everyone,

I am new to your site and am very excited to be part of your on line community!  I recently came into possession of a 1970 (at least that is how it was registered in New York State) CB750 Sandcast Engine #100-5420.  I did enough work  on it to get it on the road this fall and I am now undertaking a proper renovation this winter.  I have a few questions for you folks as you are a great source of knowledge on the SOHC Honda's.  First, Am I reducing the value of my bike by not going with one of the standard colors?  Second, I am contemplating a new Kerker 4 into 1 in Chrome as the HM300's that came with it are mostly shot and I am now riding it with a replacement set of MAC 4 into 2's.  How will the bike run with the Kerker?  I would love to get my hands on an original set of Yoshi's from a CR 750 but I understand there as hard to find as the gold behind the rainbow.  If I am posting my questions in the wrong area, than please let me know where I should be.

Its a good idea to keep the sandcast original and restore it in that direction. If you want to get creative, get a second CB750 to modify.

I would restore it as correctly as possible if value is your main concern. Your bike is the Holy Grail of collectable Hondas and will only appreciate in value. If you do it correctly with great quality it will be a better investment of your money than anything the bank can offer you. I agree with 736cc, find another less valuable model to modify.Good luck!!

Would you take a 1968 Mk1 E-Type Jaguar or 1968 Shelby Mustang and "modify" it?

The K0 needs to be kept stock in my opinion. and especially so if it is a sandcast. If you want to get creative, I agree with the other posts, get a later model and go for it.

If you mess with your K0 you might not regret it this year or even years down the track but believe me, you will at some stage kick yourself.

Any chance of some pictures?
