If anyone has any parts for a 350 they want to get rid of let me know! 

Once you know what you need, post a list.  I actually have a few 350 parts that were in the boxes of stuff I purchased for my 500 & 550 build.

If your tappet covers show any signs of the tappet adjuster screw hitting the cover. Worn rocker shafts can allow excessive movement of the shaft. The shaft wears an eccentric into the cover trashing the cover, tappets/rocker arms and the camshaft.

Two things for the 350

(1) there is a centrifugal oil filter under the circular cover on the RH side of the engine which people rarely clean and it can oil starve the cam

(2) NEVER thrash the motor from cold as it tends to shatter the piston rings

You ain't the only one mate, repaired many trashed 250's in UK (same bike with smaller bore to meet the UK "Learner laws" of the early 70's)

If the link works it will show you the filter assembly which is bolted to the crank, when you refit the cover make sure you get the oil hole(s) in the right place.

Had a good time with the bike in the Outer banks, riding across all the bridges that cross the massive sounds was a blast. Got lots of thumbs up and questions at the gas stations. Makes you feel good about the hard work and on time this bike took!



And loaded both bikes up but caught the rain most of the way home:(



But after riding it this week she started to leak around the left side of the head gasket. Pretty decent mount of oil coming out, so the typical Napkin between the fins will have to do for now....



Also leaking around the gasket on the oil pan, Easy fix, I wanted to see what we had in there anyway. Still looks good in the driveway!

I love the Outer Banks, usually I would stay south of Frisco and north of Hatterus and Ocracoke was a cool little island with lots of cool things. Old Coast Guard sstation wiped out in Hurricane on the northern coast of Ocracoke Island was cool to go shell searching and the ferry trip was cool. The ponies on Ocracoke as well.

Very nice find on the 350. Vibration is an issue for long rides. A good pair of gel grips help a little.

Glad you had fun and are enjoying the bike. Sounds like it is time to retorque the head to see if your oil lesk goes away.

Well guys he bikes still leaking oil:( I'm going to replace the pucks under the valve cover because I saw they were old looking when I tightened the head back down. Also going to replace all other gaskets underneath there while I'm in there.

Something strange started happening though, after the bikes running and I shut it down Its starts loudly " gurgling". The sound is coming from under the airbox lid. Anyone have a idea what this could be and if I need to be worried?

The damp weather may have condesate pooled in the air box.  There is a valve in the bottom of the drain hose you squeeze it to open. It will close when released, provided that you have the stock drain hose with the valve. It is a bigger diameter, one clue it is there...

Doing good in trade school so far guys, been riding as much as possible. Freakin oil leak drive me crazy so I tore the valve cover off to inspect and found the shop that did the top end job for me never replaced the pucks.....



So I did and replaced the cover gasket, but in the process broke off the tack drive and couldn't get her out, well one advantage of going to a state of the art trade school is a fully functional machine shop on site and they got it out for me no problem!  As is well:)

I bet the shop thst did it cheaped out buying a top end gasket set that didn't have them and they rolled the dice on it.
I would approach them about it and based on their response to that I would make their poor job known to other motorcyclist you know that live nearby.
I would not trust them to do other work as they don't take proper pride in their work.
Sometimes you have leaks even by good shops, but, their attitude about it will tell you a lot about them.
