CB750 by me
« on: March 17, 2016, 12:46:00 PM »
I bought my CB750 new in 1970.
Then I set it up as a café and taught a lot of Harley guys that "Jap Junk" can run.
It has been rebuilt a couple of times and now I'm at it again.
When I got it out to inspect it last fall it started on the first kick.
That's right, kick...everything that adds unnecessary weight is long gone.
The paint is from 1972 and it is getting clearcoated to preserve it.
I'll post up some more pics as I get it back together.
It is still pretty much like I built it in 1972.

Wow you must be old. I too bought a 1970  CB750K0 new in 1970. I took delivery late March OF 1970. Now 46 years later we bought another 1970. Yours looks great. Enjoy it. Mine will be a restoration to original, well close as my wallet will allow.

Good luck.

Coincidence.
Got mine in March '70 too.
Good luck with your stocker rebuild.
I think I still have a speedo if you need one.
When I built mine I figured all the info you need to ride was RPM and oil pressure ::)

The exhaust uses the original head pipes.
I called Yoshimura (this was before you could buy aftermarket pipes) in California and got Pops himself.
He said make the collector big and jet it rich.
The muffles is the classic Cherry Bomb with the side slabbed off for ground clearance.
If that isn't old school I don't know what is.

I'd love it. Mine is cracked. I went to Manchester Honda the day after Dick Mann won the Daytona 200. 1395 for the bike and I got a free helmet. Let me know what you want for the speedo. PM me.

Thanks.

I'm going to do a dig in my shop storage and collect what original parts I have.
I'll post it and sell cheap or free.
I remember having a spare engine and stuff....
The CB parts are behind the Harley parts, that are behind the BMW parts, that are behind the Ducati parts, that are behind the Hayabusa parts.
Check out the carbs on my BMW resto....
