Another new guy - 1970 CB750 - Oshkosh, WI
« on: August 21, 2007, 04:21:02 PM »
Hello All...glad to be a part of this group and thanks to Bob Cleveland for getting me here.  New intro is to include the bikes I own.  I have restored a 1980 Honda CM400E, 1981 CM400 Custom, my wife and I ride a 2000 Goldwing.  I owned a 1977 CB750K and sold it when I bought the Wing.  This past July I bought a 1970 CB750 with 17,000 miles on it.  It had not been started since 1990 when the owner lost interest.  I pushed it home.  Took 3 weeks to clean carbs, clean tank, change oil and be sure it was ready to fire.  Took it for the first ride 3 weeks to the day I got it home.  Now I am doing the cleaning, etc.  The bike is remarkably clean as far as rust goes.  I plan to restore the paint, rebuild the forks, install new OEM exhausts, etc.  This will be a winter project.  I want to be sure it runs good before I stick a lot of money into it.  No oil leaks, no gas leaks, fires fine.  Plan to install electronic ignition per vintage guys recommendation.  I am working on a clutch problem now that I will discuss in the proper forum area.  Looking forward to learning from you guys.

Welcome! You are, to my knowledge, the closest member to me. I live in Menasha but will be heading to school in Oshkosh very soon. I plan on taking my 350f with me. Not too many college guys troting around on old Hondas ;D. Got any pics of the 750?

Wouldn't happen to work for Oshkosh Truck would you.
Nice place - toured the factory last year.

No, don't work for Oshkosh Truck.  My neighbor 2 doors down does.

Didn't know about Oshkosh Trucks.

I was referring to the expensive denim children's clothes that we can buy in upmarket shops in UK.
