Dimmer high/low fix
« on: September 29, 2018, 06:25:44 PM »
Can anyone tell me if its possible to rebuild the dimmer high/low switch.  More specifically, the small copper contact plate with the spring underneath is not making good contact with the wire contacts.    As a result the head light wont stay on.  I've attached pictures for reference.

The first pic is the copper plate that is the problem, the second is of the wire contacts.

Cant see clearly..but can you "open" the plate on the movable piece back up so it makes good contact again?

Also...I love this stuff for oxidation...  http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.188/.f

There's a spring under the plate that should help with contact, but unfortunately the plate seems too worn.  I cleaned all contacts, and tried adjusting the plate, it didn't help.  I was considering a bit of solder on the wire connection to effectively bypass the switch and make a permanent high beam connection.  Can anyone think of a reason this might be a bad idea?

I may have some switch parts left over from previous 650s I’ve owned.  I’ll be in the shop later today and will take a look to see if I have that piece

No go....found a few small pieces and parts, but not the piece you are looking for.  Ebay looks to be your best bet.
