I'm located up in Prescott, but I'm from Cincinnati. I make my way down to PHX fairly often, and yeah the weather is great for year round riding in your parts it gets a little chilly up in the mountains.

ahh, appreciate the heads up on the parts man.  it looks as if .. or so it seems, that my problem is the spring attached to the kickstart ratchet, inside the motor.  theres a thread on here about kickstart removal on a 550k,, which is what i have... but for now, im going to hold off and wait for my battery tender to help keep my bike charged so i can use my electric start... atleast until i get some tools.. maybe even a garage to work in???  just real quick... does your kickstart ratchet have any play from left to right,,,perpendicular to the length of your bike?  thanks again! leeaaron!

My 550F has about 1/8inch play in its resting position and no play as you move it through the motions. Joe

hey joe.  i talked to my buddy who went to mmi down here in phoenix a few years ago and he asked me if there was any trouble getting it into neutral and well.. since ive only had the bike for a week... i figured it was as good as it could be when i got it... had a recent frame up resto...but i usually have to turn the bike off to get it in neutral with out much of a fight, click up click down click up... and he thinks that the clutch is just out of adjustment... so... im going to dig into that once i get some tools going... thanks for the info on your bike!  whats the wearther up like mid days?  i might be coming up around christmas....

You know I have the same problem with getting my bike into neutral. It is always harder after I have changed the oil, It goes in fine while I'm rolling or like you said after you turn it off, weird. The weather these past couple days been a little chilly about 50 mid day, couldn't get mine started this morning in the blistering 17 degrees, haha

17 degrees! i moved here to get away from all that!  its been in the 30s at nite here,, mainly in the outskirts of town,, but still colder than id like it... there was no way in hell i was riding my bike to work this morning... to cold,, so i let her be and drove the car... what do most people use for anti-theft devices for bikes?

Yeah I moved for the same reasons, i guess it makes up for the 100+ in the summer, my anti-theft device is a bolt cable lock for my 30-06 rifle, it isn't much but it keeps the front wheel or rear from rolling then I just pull the a few fuses and stick them in my pocket.
