Something smells fishy about this site. Too good to be true!
« on: January 25, 2012, 03:02:23 PM »
I found this company when I was looking for motorcycles in the classified adds in my local newspaper.  I saw a  2002 BMW 1200 RS with only 8550 miles for $3000 listed on their site, of course it sounded to good to be legit, so I wrote them a note inquiring about to find out if they are for real. It appears to be located in the U.K. Here's what I got back:

Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

But I did a quick search of the IP address and found it is based in the states not some far away country (for you at least), but that doesn't mean much, and the photo in the link that you posted just doesn't look right, possibly photoshoped, but I can't be certain.

The best part I like about that advert is where it says adult ridden, the question I have is why would you even consider anything else.  I mean why wasn't it ridden by a 5 year old, it is a better bike to start them on than a peewee 50.

Call them and tell them you live nearby and will bring cash and pick up M/C at the same time.

I once WON a CB750 (VERY RATTY) for 1$ on Fleabay and sent a message to inform him I would come pick up. He NEVER gave me a pick up addy. He was probably pissed cause he didn't get the 1000$ he hoped for!!!

I got "her" I say this only because I don't know if it's really a woman, to send me pics of the bike. the other questionable thing about this ad is that it's listed for sale in a county here that is nearby but it has the wrong zip code in the ad. I just sent her a note saying I would like to see it in person and that I will pay her cash if I like  the bike. Let's see how far I can drag this out before she stops writing. I have to admit this is one of the better scams going. a 2011 BMW for $2800? Please, I wish!

If you google the ad , ot e-mail   address you will find it posted all over the country, same venicle for sale.  The story usually  goes that the they are in the military and can have is shipped to your location upon payment.

Lissa, thanks for the pics of the bike, it looks great. In the ad in the ajc, it has Douglas county listed, so is the bike actually there? If so, I can come out and see it since I am not very far away from Douglas County and if it's what I'm looking for, I'll hand you cash on the spot. let me know. Vern

Should have dragged it out a while longer before reporting her ad, I'm sure there was still some fun to be had there! Do you not have any BMW dealers in Georgia? It says it was maintained at Bob's BMW, which is in Laurel,Md., why would someone go from Ga. to MD. to pay stealership prices on maintenance?

How are they scamming Google checkout?  Usually these deals involve Western Union.
I don't use Google checkout but isn't it like PayPal?
