I recently ordered a set of moulded bowl gaskets from Canada. I didn't want to go through the dilemma of making oring seals stay put when I pulled the carbs again.
I fitted them today, they needed the slightest of strectches to fit, but they were so much easier than fighting the dreaded orings.
Refitted the rack, turned the fuel on guess what? Fuel running out of every bowl
I took #1 bowl off to see why this is happening. No evidence of incorrect fit, the surface of the carb was clean & the seal was sitting proud of the bowl surface so I couldn't see why it should be leaking.
I refitted the bowl & turned the fuel on again.
To my surprise - no leaks anywhere. It's as though the new seals needed to be exposed to fuel to swell?
I can't say that I've ever seen anything like this before, but I sure am glad I didn't pull the rack off again.
I'm still scratching my head though.
