CB750 to be featured in Ace's new paint ad campaign
« on: February 10, 2012, 05:53:06 AM »
I thought this would be of interest.  I work part time at an Ace hardware store near me and looked through some advertising material that's coming up in March.  They're pushing their new line and paint and one of the posters features a couple riding a nice red early CB750!  Cool!
It seems more people are learning that SOHC4s are the epitome of cool.  I can just picture the board meeting: "What motorcycle comes to mind when you think of cool?"
I'll post up some links when the ads come out.

Noticed this poster is up at my local ACE Hardware. I inquired at the store if there was some way to buy one from corp. headquarters, or whatever. They didn't know, but they offered to give me the one in their window when the campaign ends. Not sure what shape it might be in by then, faded perhaps, but gave them my name and phone number just in case. I also made an inquiry via their corp. 'interweb'  ;) page to find out if they will sell one to an individual. Not holding out much hope on that one, but what the heck.

Have they removed all reference to Honda in that poster?
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Yup. The word "Honda" does not appear anywhere. Presumably to avoid the Honda lawyers. The rider's leg covers the side covers and even the tank badges have been airbrushed out. Hard to miss the iconic image of a candy red K0 though.  ;)

This month's Popular Mechanics has an Allstate ad on the 5th page of the magazine featuring a CB750 cafe bike.

The reply I received from Ace Customer Service;

Thank you for contacting the Ace Care Center.

All of our Ace stores are independently owned and operated and control their own inventory and policies. You would need to contact your local Ace store to inquire about the poster displayed in their window.

This part of their campaign ended and much to my surprise, they did keep my name and number and called me.

I found a couple of my own today. I just walked into a few Ace stores with a pic of my 750 and a pic of the poster and said I would be happy to give them something for it. Some stores never got the poster. One was on the window and the manager gave it to me...but I had to trade him a 12 pack. The second one I got was still in the box and I traded them some cookies for it. There are 2 styles of poster and one of them you can see 750Four on the left side cover, but you have to know what you are looking for. Will look great in my shop.

With all the "photo-shop" computer software and technology out there I wonder what part of that picture is real? I wonder it that is a museum bike they took a pic of then removed the Honda logos by computer? You can still see the Made in Japan on the bottom of the stator cover. I even wonder if those 2 people on the bike are really riding or if that was also "photo-shopped"? Anyone have an idea where the pic was taken? I am sure if that was one of the members bikes we would know it by now. Interesting that a national franchise would use a 70's Honda for an ad.

Here is a pic of the smaller poster they produced with printing on one side. The large one is made for a window with same picture on both sides which is a plus if there is fading from the sun. I put mine in a frame for the shop wall and I had not taken the protective film off yet.
