Topic: Yeah, I think it was time to change the sprockets...

Today I installed my two new JT sprockets and DID chain.  Needless to say, I needed them - I hadn't really taken a close look at the rear until today    The front wasn't nearly as bad - looked just a little worn.  Both were JT, so not original.  The new DID chain is marv.  Cleaned up back there while I was at it.

Any secrets on those funny little washers holding the sprocket nuts in place?  I considered painting my sprocket cover, but after beating the heck out of it bending those washers back into place, I'm glad I didn't bother.

Hey thats a nice sprocket you got there! So any problems with chain slippage???

Let's just say, the chain was at the end of it's rope.  Left that repair a little too long (although I've only had the bike a year or so and 2000 miles).  Very nice now with the new setup.

All I need to sort out is my burning oil bit.  Leak-down test this week.

Those funny little washers are to stop the nut undoing and last i checked were still available from Honda

I know what they're for, but the question is whether there's any secret to bending them back into shape without mucking up the surface of the cover?  Perhaps the new ones from the factory are pre-bent allowing easier manipulation?  I'll order a new set next time I have the rear wheel off, which will likely be the next time I suffer a mental breakdown and decide to dismantle the bike.

your old sprocket looks like mine did. i was in the same boat, hadn't thought to look at the back for a while. there was only 14 teeth remaining out of the 40 on mine though, were many broke on yours?

   ...thanx for letting me know what a worn sproket looks like.  I now have a new goal when getting as much wear out of a sproket as I possible can...

Funny thing is I don't think any were broken.  Never noticed chain slipping or anything, and I pulled hard from the line and accellerated fast on the highway.  Regardless, I feel much much better with new hardware in place.
