oil leak from rear sprocket area on '77 750A
« on: February 15, 2012, 07:15:43 AM »
I'm having a heck of a time determining the location of this oil leak. A friend with a '76 has the same issue. I've replaced the sprocket seal as well as all oil seals and gaskets on the transmission inner and outer covers, so the neutral switch may be the only area I've missed. Anyone else with this issue that's solved it?

Stu...had the same issue with my KO and it was the stator wires where they leave the case. Sealed it and done. It was actually running down between the stator and tranny cover so it was hard to see it.

Pulled both tranny covers and the sprocket to see what's up. It was the new  sprocket seal. The sleeve was slightly grooved and had a burr. I spent almost an hour polishing it with 500 wet-or-dry then 1000. Installed new OEM seal, and all seems good so far.
