Givi Hard luggage
« on: February 19, 2012, 03:49:07 AM »
Anyone used this type of hard luggage or have some pics on your SOHC Honda. Looking for feedback on the Givi range or of similar products. Building a CB400F for a USA tour next year.

Thanks Kevin

I used the Hardig cases which are both waterproof and very durable. Come in a range of sizes.

Cool Andy, I see a lock on that hard bag too. I have a hard time leaving sight of the cycle on most all trips depending on whats being transported. Heres the general company link for others curious...http://www.giviusa.com/

Thanks for the info guys. looking at a top box, have not decided which model yet, and the side panniers Givi E21.I like the set up Andy. Add the side panniers and that's the sort of set up I am thinking of.

I use GIVI E360s on my CBR1000F, and I have a 460 I use as a top case on the back of the GS.  The GIVIs work very well.  They are well made and they've never leaked, even when stuffed full and riding in the rain all day.  Their sturdiness leads to one drawback in that they are somewhat on the heavy side.

I bought some tubing and GIVI mounting parts from Happy Trails awhile back for the 750F, but haven't gotten around to fabbing it up.  I'll post some pics when I get it done.

One of the reasons I haven't done it yet is because I got some Ortlieb dry saddlebags from Aerostich a couple of years ago.  I got them for use on the KLR, but I used them on the 750 last year during the relay and I am very impressed with them.  They are light, tough, hold a lot of stuff, stable on the bike, and are completely waterproof.  They are way beyond any other soft bags I've used or seen.  Just not having to screw around with rain covers is a big enough selling point all by itself.  They do share the main problem with other soft bags.  They are easy to rip off if you leave the bike unattended.

Thanks for that Greg as I was thinking of getting the Ortilebs. Always good to have real world feedback.

I think you'd like them.  They have the same construction as the Ortlieb dry duffle bags.  I've had one of those for over 15 years.  It been on the back of all  my bikes for thousands of miles.  It has been checked as baggage, rode around in the back of the truck on camping trips, etc.  It still looks pretty much like it did when I got it.

Also have a look at KAPPA. Made by GIVI and the boxes fit GIVI racks. Less frills and a lot less money. I had their E52 Top Case on a BMW F800 and it was excellent
