Shortround's new project Annabel
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:07:01 PM »
In october I placed 2nd at the Rat's Hole bike show. I guess that isn't to bad considering like most everyone here my bike was built and painted in my garage.  The top three placers were invited to return for a cafe racer showdown in march. A sneak preview of what I have been working on....

It was the situation i didn't like. The three previous winners were challanged to build a NEW cafe racer for the 40th anniversary show. The third place finisher from biketoberfest didn't finish his in time, so he didn't bring a bike. The first place winner brought the same bike as last year. WTF did he miss the "new" part. I built a new one for the show. But the winner this year was NOT one of the original three. He was contracted to build a theme bike for the show, and guess which one one? Thats what I meant when I wrote they brought their own bike to their show.

its those other 2 that I don't like... jesus, that rear wheel is ghastly!  soooo butt ugly!
the black one looks dumb too... no flow at all, the pipe turbo thingy is dumb looking, the rear section angles down, and its obviously #3!!

shortround wins by a mile

HD cafes usually don't do it for me.   Especially if they have modern sportbike wheels - just look too small and have so much negative space that they don't fill.

The yellow one would work alot better if they ditched that bicycle tire/rim combo on the back an just had something with a bit more mass to it.  Even with that shock, it's got to be like riding a jack-hammer.  Also - needs spokes.  ;)   Still, there's something about it I like - good stance.  Love the tank and seatpan & tail section.

Can't believe your green one didn't win.     Subtle, clean and the best looking engine by far.

Well done.  I'd have voted for yours.  Not even close.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
